We got the weekend started right with a pair of first inning winners. Rookie Parker Messick got back to his winning ways and helped us to do the same. Now we look to move on to our NRFI bets for September 8.
22 teams are in action on Monday, which gives us more than enough to find a couple of winning NRFI and YRFI props for September 8. Come check out what we have cooked up for this slate of games.

MLB NRFI and YRFI Picks – September 8
New York Mets vs. Philadelphia Phillies
First Pitch – 6:45 pm EST
Citizens Bank Park – Philadelphia, PA
Broadcast – MLB TV
The Mets get first hacks in this one and they’ve been awful at the plate lately. In their last four games, they’ve only managed to put up a grand total of 12 runs (or 3.00 runs per game). We’ll need that to come through for us because Aaron Nola is on the bump and he has also not been great. He has been shelled in a couple of straight games, but has NRFIs in two of his last four games. Historically, he’s been good against the Mets with just a 3.54 ERA in 29 career appearances. While I do think the Mets will eventually get to him, I’m banking on an early three outs.
The bottom of the inning will be much less of a sweat for us. The Phillies have also not been hot as of late – albeit not as cold as the Mets. They have just 22 runs over the course of their last five games (4.4 per game). They also will have a much tougher matchup with Nolan McLean on the hill. His freaky good breaking stuff is all over social media right now and it’s keeping batters quiet. He has just a 1.37 ERA coming into Monday’s action. He faced the Phillies just two starts ago and held them scoreless for 8.0 innings – there seems to be no reason to suggest he couldn’t do it for one more.
NRFI/YRFI Bet for September 8: No (+100)
Boston Red Sox vs. Athletics
First Pitch – 10:05 pm EST
Sutter Health Park – Sacramtento, CA
Broadcast – MLB TV
The Red Sox are a tough team to get out. They currently rank in the top ten in most of the major offensive categories that would lead to a first inning run. However, much like the Mets, they are in a massive dry spell right now. Over their last four games, they’ve only put up 14 runs (3.50 runs per game). Now Luis Morales gets a chance to make that number look even worse. He comes in with a 1.59 ERA and having not allowed more than two earned runs in any of his six appearances this season.
The bottom of the inning should also be a breeze. Garrett Crochet is nipping at the heels of a Cy Young award this year and this game should help boost that campaign. He’s let up two or less runs in eight of his last ten games and this Athletics squad shouldn’t scare him much. They did have some big games against the poor pitching of the Angels, but otherwise have been quiet lately. Crochet should return them back to those ways here.
NRFI/YRFI Bet for September 8: No (-110)
