While the UFC continues to be the king when it comes to MMA and gambling, there is more MMA than ever to bet on now. The advantage here is that the data is usually quite a bit less sharp than when you’re making MMA predictions for the UFC. So we’ve decided to dig into some each week to get you started on your regional MMA journey. This week we keep things domestic with LFA 215 from Ventura, California for our regional MMA pick.

MMA Regional Pick of the Week: LFA 215
LFA Lightweight Fight: Richie Miranda vs Ilay Barzilay
Card Start Time: Friday (8/22), 7:00pm EST (UFC Fight Pass)
In the main event on Friday night, I like the LFA lightweight champion to retain his belt. He’s up against an undefeated challenger, which helps to make the line playable, but I think he’s got all the avantages he needs.
Miranda has shown huge growth over his last few fights. After a loss to Keegan Gennrich two years ago that exposed an issue with grappling, he got to work on it. That allowed him to take the belt off Richie Lewis, who is arguably a better wrestler. Those changes make it clear that Barzilay will have no avenues to a win on the ground.
Additionally, Barzilay might be a strong striker, but he just doesn’t bring the power that Miranda does. Miranda is full of violence and is able to push a pace. Barzilay has no championship round experience, which could be a difference maker here as well.
Ultimately, Miranda is just more dangerous and seems to be closing up all the holes in his game.
