On Wednesday we got back to our winning ways. We swept the board with some early inning action – hitting at both -115 and -110. We’ll try to duplicate that with our NRFI bets for August 21.
There are just nine games going off this Thursday and we weeded through them all to find the very best NRFI and YRFI props for August 21. Come check out what we have cooked up for this slate of games.

MLB NRFI and YRFI Picks – August 21
Texas Rangers vs. Kansas City Royals
First Pitch – 2:10 pm EST
Kauffman Stadium – Kansas City, MO
Broadcast – MLB TV
This is a game I like on the NRFI line thanks to some really rough offenses. The Rangers rank 24th in the majors in run scoring with 4.07 runs per game. While that’s pretty bad, it’s still substantially better than the Royals, who are 28th in that same category. The first two games of this series saw just 14 total runs, or 3.50 per team per game, and the third game was trending low at time of publication.
However, it isn’t just the bad bats that have me on this game. Michael Lorenzen is on the bump for the Royals and he’s been solid as of late. In his last two starts, he’s gone 11.0 innings without giving up a run. He has struck out 10 in that span and given up just five hits. If someone is going to get him off his game, I doubt it’ll be the Rangers.
Patrick Corbin hasn’t been nearly as hot for the Rangers. He’s largely cooled off after a hot start to the 2025 campaign. A lot of that has to do with facing three of the top nine run scoring teams in this month. Despite that, he’s given up just one run in the first inning. I’m banking on the downgrade in opponents helping him get through three outs again here.
NRFI/YRFI Bet for August 21: No (-120)
San Francisco Giants vs. San Diego Padres
First Pitch – 4:10 pm EST
Petco Park – San Diego, CA
Broadcast – MLB TV
The Giants are another of the worst hitting teams in the majors. They rank 25th in run scoring and have been worse lately. They have scored just 12 runs in their last four games (going into Wednesday’s action). That comes out to 3.00 runs per game. Now they’ll face Dyaln Cease who has really settled in nicely. He has a 3.12 ERA in the month of August and has 18 strikeouts in just 14.1 innings. Two of the three teams he faced in this month have been in the top four of the league – so this should be a nice break for him.
On the other side of things, we get another poor hitting squad. Despite their record, the Padres are 23rd in the league in runs scored and are 19th in scoring in the first inning. That’s exactly what we want to see with Justin Verlander toeing the rubber to close out our NRFI. Although he’s just 1-9 on the year, he’s been solid for the boys from the bay. He’s allowed one run or less in four of his last five starts and three of those have been scoreless starts. We only need three innings out of him here to close this one, and he should get it with ease.
NRFI/YRFI Bet for August 21: No (-125)
