Underdog Fantasy – DFS Picks for August 7
Eury Perez – Higher than 5.5 Strikeouts
Since the calendar turned to July, Perez has handled this projection the majority of times. In six starts, he’s gone higher than this figure in four of them. While both of the misses are in his last two games, he gets a bit of a gift here in the form of a struggling Braves lineup. They are without Ronald Acuna and Austin Riley, and have turned to Eli White to lead off. They fanned 11 times on Wednesday and have 9.33 times per game over their last three. Perez should be able to find six in there somewhere.
Shane Smith – Higher than 4.5 Strikeouts
One of the few teams that’s worse than the Braves when it comes to strikeouts is the Mariners. They rank 27th in the majors with 8.89 strikeouts per game. That’s part of the reason that I like the Massachusetts native to get five strikeouts here. My only concern for that number is that the White Sox seemed to be limiting Smith’s pitches for a while there. He got up to 79 in his first game since the All-Star game, which is a good sign for finding five strikeouts.
Kamilla Cardoso – Higher than 10.5 Rebounds
When the Angel Reese is away, the Kamilla Cardoso will play – or something like that.
With Reese on the sidelines you have to love the projection on Cardoso’s rebounds. Against Washington on Tuesday – also without Reese – Cardoso was a force down low. She ended the game with 13 boards and that was the fifth time in her last seven that she cleared this bar. Some of those games even had Reese in it, so without her it should be a cake walk.
