Underdog Fantasy – DFS Picks for August 4
Adrian Houser – Higher than 3.5 Strikeouts
While Houser is not a big strikeout guy, he has managed to pick up at least four strikeouts in four of his last six games. Additionally, he’s got the narrative working for him in this one. This will be his first game since getting shipped to the Rays from the White Sox and he’ll want to impress his new squad. The Angels are the right team to do that against. They currently are the worst team in the majors in terms of striking out and nobody stikes out more at home either.
Cade Povich – Higher than 4.5 Strikeouts
Cade Povich might not be a household name, but he has had surprisingly big strikeout stuff. While he has missed time with an injury, he’s put up some big numbers in the last seven starts. While he only managed 35.0 innings in that time, he did fan 42 batters. With 1.2 strikeouts per inning, we’re basically only looking for him to go 3.2 innings to get it done. This Phillies have also had quite a bit of swing and miss in their game lately. Over the last three games, they’ve stuck out 10.33 times per game.
Andrew Vaughn – Higher than 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs
Don’t look now, but Andrew Vaughn has one of the very best hit streaks in the majors. Much like we’re hoping for Houser, he was revitalized by swapping teams. Since coming to the Brewers, he’s hitting .373 and has been hitting .444 during this hit streak. He’s also been knocking in plenty of runs in that stretch – 12 in the nine games. With Erick Fedde, who has been a touch shaky lately, on the bump for the Braves, Vaughn should find plenty of chance to post offense.
