Underdog Fantasy – DFS Picks for July 28

Chase Burns – Higher than 5.5 Strikeouts

I’d take a projection on Chase Burns that was much higher than just 5.5 strikeouts. If we ignore his disasterous second outing where he failed to make it out of the first against Boston, he is averaging 8.75 strikeouts per game. Even if you wanted to include that one, he’s at 7.00 strikeouts per game. He’s coming off of back-to-back games with double digit strikeouts. While the Dodgers are a tough lineup, they’re in the bottom half of the league when it comes to strikeouts. They also have fanned 10.33 times per game over their last three.

Spencer Strider – Higher than 6.5 Strikeouts

Spencer Strider made headlines when he talked about how the Braves just haven’t been good this year. He threw himself under that bus as well, saying that he needs to be better. However, he has really picked that up in his last three starts – particularly with the strikeouts. In that span, he has struck out 26 batters in just 17.2 innings. He had at least seven strikeouts in all three of those games. While the Royals are one of the hardest teams to strikeout, their trouble scoring runs should allow Strider to work deeper.

Cam Schlittler – Higher than 4.5 Strikeouts

Schlittler might be one of the lesser known names on the Underdog menu today, but he has shown some signs of brilliance in his short MLB career. He’s fanned 10 batters in 10.1 innings so far, which includes a seven strikeout game against the Mariners. He did get a few less swing and misses against the Blue Jays, but they are the hardest team in the league to strike out. Meanwhile, Tampa Bay has struck out 10.00 times per game over their last three and should open the door for Schlittler to rack them up.
