Underdog Fantasy – DFS Picks for July 20
Willy Adames – Higher than 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs
Adames had himself a good start to his weekend with a pair of dingers against Toronto. I like that energy coming out of the break, but what I like even more than that is the pitching matchup on Sunday. José Berríos is on the bump for the Blue Jays in this one and the two have a history. Adames has faced Berríos 8 times, and he is 5-for-7 (.714) in that span. That includes a home run, which brings the head-to-head slugging percentage to 1.143. He should be able to get himself on the board in this one.
Kris Bubic – Higher than 5.5 Strikeouts
Kris Bubic gets the Marlins on Sunday, who have been pretty solid at limiting their strikeouts. However, this is a comically low projection for Bubic. He’s been higher than this mark in four of his last five games. The only time he came up short was when he was limited to 5.0 innings against the Dodgers. Anytime he’s thrown more than that in the last month, he cleared this number easily. I expect him to work deep and get us six.
Grant Holmes – Higher than 5.5 Strikeouts
Another pitcher who I think can get us six strikeouts is Grant Holmes. He faces the Yankees, who currently rank 26th in the majors in terms of strikeouts. While he had a tough time with the Cardinals last time out, they are one of the better teams at limiting their swing and miss. Holmes was putting up big numbers prior to that and I think this is a good spot for him to get back to those totals.
