Underdog Fantasy – DFS Picks for July 15
Paul Skenes – Higher than 1.5 Strikeouts
Skenes started last years All-Star Game and failed to have a single strikeout. We’ve seen some progression in his game though, including the addition of another pitch. On top of that, he’s got some guys at the top of this AL lineup that are prone to a strikeout. Riley Greene is hitting second with a horrendous 31.5% strikeout rate, and Aaron Judge will be third at a slightly better 25.4%. There’s also an outside chance that they’ll allow Skenes to go a second inning here and that’s all I need to want the ‘higher than’ on this projection.
Olivia Nelson-Ododa – Higher than 5.5 Rebounds
The Connecticut Sun are not a team you want to spend too much time watching. However, Nelson-Ododa has been waxing some glass as of late. She only managed three against Los Angeles in their last game, but that was largely due to some foul trouble. In the three games prior, she put up 7.0 per game and was higher than this mark in all three. She’s also been higher than this projection in eight of her last 12 games. Finally, when these teams played back in May, Nelson-Ododa grabbed nine boards.
Kelsey Plum – Higher than 17.5 Points
This projection of Kelsey Plum is a real headscratcher for me. She’s gone for at least 20 points in six of her last nine games. In fact, she’s doing that often enough to have her season average peaking over that – it currenty sits at 20.1 points. She’ll look to put up a big number again Tuesday against the Washington Mystics. While she hasn’t played them in this new season yet, she did go for 22 and 28 the last two time she played against them last season.
