Underdog Fantasy – DFS Picks for July 7
Janson Junk – Higher than 4.5 Strikeouts
Since being thrown into the starter role, Junk has surpassed this projection in two of his three starts. That includes fanned seven Twins last time out – with Minnesota not being all that easy of a team to rack them up on. Now he’ll get a team with notably more issues with strikeouts in Cincinnati. They’re in the bottom third of the league and have gone down on strikes 10.7 times per game over their last three.
Sean Burke – Higher than 3.5 Strikeouts
For our second play, we’ve got another overachieving pitcher, who just happens to be playing for an awful team. The White Sox might not be worth watching, but Burke has been. Facing the Blue Jays, his projection has dropped all the way to 3.5, which is wildy low for him. May 11th was the last time he didn’t get at least four stikeouts – a run of eight straight. It’s hard to pick against the Blue Jays making contact, but this is just too low for me.
Corbin Carroll – Higher than 1.5 Total Bases
Carroll is not exactly on a great run at the moment. Since coming back from injury, he’s 0-9, which hardly inspires confidence. However, I think he breaks out of that against a familiar foe in Yu Darvish. Darvish will be throwing for the first time this season, which should make him even rustier than Carroll. Plus, Carroll has owned him in the head-to-head over their respective careers. He’s 7-for-13 overall with three of those hits being for extra bases. Let’s get him right on this Monday.
