The UFC octagon continues its world tour this week, flying from Atlanta, Georgia, to Baku, Azerbaijan (which neighbors the country of Georgia), for this coming Saturday’s UFC Fight Night: Hill vs Rountree. For my MMA Underdog Pick of the Week: UFC Baku, I’m backing a former UFC champion as a live dog. Let’s get it on, c’mon!

MMA Underdog Pick of the Week: UFC Baku
UFC FIGHT NIGHT: HILL VS ROUNTREE (AKA UFC BAKU)
Start Time: Noon EST – (ABC/ESPN/ESPN+)
My choice of Jamahal Hill to beat Khalil Rountree Jr. on Saturday afternoon in Azerbaijan is by no means an endorsement of Hill being a good fighter. Despite being the UFC Light Heavyweight Champion at one time (and never losing the belt), he isn’t a particularly great fighter.
But this is light heavyweight, so that doesn’t matter. And he’s only lost to former champions lately, so I like his resume much better than Rountree’s. I think he’ll be better on the feet, relatively speaking, than Rountree and has a real chance at knocking him out. And it won’t be Sweet Dreams for Khalil.
