Pittsburgh Pirates vs Chicago Cubs
Start Time: 2:20 PM EST
The Chicago Cubs continue to be one of the biggest pleasant surprises of the MLB season, currently leading the National League Central Division with a 43-28 record, 14.5 games ahead of the Pittsburgh Pirates, who are the cellar dwellers of the division.
And the advanced stats REALLY like the Cubs, rating them 1.4 runs per game better than the average team, putting them only behind the New York Yankees in the majors. The Pirates, as mentioned, stink, and they are half a run worse than an average team per game.
All of that, plus the Cubs playing at home, and Pittsburgh running the 1-9 Mitch Keller (with a 4.15 ERA) to the mound on Sunday afternoon, make the Cubs the pick. Chicago wins the rubber match of this series and runs their record against Pittsburgh for the season up to 5-2. The Cubs on the moneyline is my best bet for Sunday.
