The puck dropped on the NHL Playoffs this past Saturday, but the final series does not start until tomorrow, for some reason. And it’s a series we’ve seen over and over again. Best Bet For Tuesday (April 22nd): NHL Predictions
Florida Panthers vs Tampa Bay Lightning
Start Time: 8:30 PM EST
For the fourth time in the past five years, the Florida Panthers and the Tampa Bay Lightning will meet in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. This includes last season, when the Panthers dispatched the Lightning in the first round on their way to winning the Stanley Cup. Will Tampa Bay be able to exact its revenge this year?
I at least like their chances in Game 1. The Lightning are especially tough on their home ice at the Amalie Arena, posting a 29-8-4 record at home, fourth best in the NHL this season. While Tampa Bay was only four points better than Florida in the standings, the advanced stats like them much more than their in-state rivals. That, plus their historically best 0.40 goal advantage on their home ice, makes Tampa Bay favored by almost a goal tomorrow by my math. Tampa Bay on a very modest moneyline is my best bet for Tuesday.
