NBA First Scorer Props – March 24
Minnesota Timberwolves vs. Indiana Pacers
Tipoff – 7:00 pm EST
Gainbridge Fieldhouse – Indianapolis, IN

There’s a couple of teams when it comes to the first field goal market that you simply have to fade every time out. One of my top teams to fade right now is the Pacers. They come in near the bottom of the league in both tip win percentage and in first bucket success rate – 29th and 28th respectfully. Not only are they bad in those indicators, but the Timberwolves are well above average in both of them. They win the first possession 54.2% of the time and score first 52.8% of the time. Those sizable leads gives us all the reason to play them here at -170.
If we’re getting cute and looking for an individual player, I really like Julius Randle in this spot. In the last three games, he’s featured in the team’s first three shots in every one of them. Additionally, he’s second on the team when in comes to first buckets on the season and gets early looks regularly.

Chicago Bulls vs. Denver Nuggets
Tipoff – 9:00 pm EST
Ball Arena – Denver, CO
Broadcast – NBA TV
The other team that I love to fade is the Bulls. If you thought the Pacers’ metrics were bad, check out the Bulls. They rank dead last in both of those categories, winning the tip just 20.0% of the time and scoring first just 35.7% of the time. The Nuggets might be a below average team on the first score, and are without Nikola Jokic, but I still like them here at -140. You can rest easy knowing that DeAndre Jordan, who is slated to take the tip tonight, has won two of the three he’s taken this year.
With Jokoc being a force on the early score and likely not to play tonight, this is a great chance to go down ballot for some higher odds. Christian Braun took the first shot in Denver’s last game and was featured early in the game before that too. With Jokic away, it seems like he sees a boost in action. I’d look for him to get that again here.
