Houston Texans at Tennessee Titans Preview and Predictions

It’s an AFC South matchup for Week 18 in Nashville. The Houston Texans come to town for a clash with the Titans at Nissan Stadium. It’s a rematch of Week 12 where the Titans pulled off the upset in Houston. This one will kick off at 1:00 p.m. ET on CBS.

The Texans locked into 4 seed after winning the AFC South. Their playoff opponent is still to be determined but their seeding is set, they cannot move up or down. They’ll host a first round playoff game next week at NRG Stadium in Houston. DeMeco Ryans was non-commital on the starters playing saying “everybody has to be ready to go” and “we’ll see how the game goes.”

Tennessee is currently holding on to the #2 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. They are still in contention for the #1 overall pick, should they lose and the New England Patriots win. Head coach Brian Callahan was also non-commital when it comes to the Titans quarterback situation. Both quarterbacks will see playing time Sunday and have been splitting reps in practice all week. Callahan declined to name a starter.

Houston Texans Over 17.5 Points Scored (-108)

The Texans were held to just a measly two points last week in their Christmas Day loss to the Baltimore Ravens. But don’t let that fool you into thinking this team can’t score. They’ve gone over this total in six games in a row before that and 13 times this season.

Now the biggest question becomes, do the starters play? If they do play, how long do they play? The good news Davis Mills is still a very capable backup, and Will Levis likely sees playing time for the Titans. Levis has been a turnover machine. The hope with this bet is that the starters play for at least a bit, and score early. Then the backups finish the job.

Houston Texans +1.5 (-105)

Starters or no starters, I have a lot more faith in the Houston Texans than the Tennessee Titans at this point in time. Tennessee already stole a win in Houston earlier this season and getting two wins over the Texans would be quite the surprise. The Titans are in prime Draft pick position and a win would disrupt that. I never think a team purposely loses, but they can do things to lessen their chances to win. This is a situation where the coach is expected to be back next season. Texans pull out a win in this one.
