Zach Hicks Higher Than 1.5 Assists

This is a case of a book having a weird number. Penn State forward Zach Hicks is averaging 2.3 assists per game. Hicks has cleared 1.5 assists in six out of eight games so far.

When it comes to opportunity, Hicks has been a regular starter with a full workload. He’s played more than 30 minutes in six out of eight games this year.

Purdue’s opponents have averaged 14.0 assists per game this year. That’s good for 228th in the nation. Hicks is riding a streak of two games in a row with three assists. He should be able to help his teammates at least twice against a Purdue defense that appears to be a bit softer than last year. Go higher on Hicks assists in your Underdog Fantasy college basketball entry for December 5th.

Braden Smith Higher Than 8.5 Assists

On a short slate, it’s a good idea to go with guys that will play a significant role and have a clear trend. Purdue point guard Braden Smith checks both boxes.

Smith has gone higher than 8.5 assists in five out of eight games this year. He’s also averaging 9.1 assists per game. He’s only played fewer than 32 minutes once this year. Smith should play close to 40 minutes as long as this game is close.

The Penn State defense is allowing 13.9 assists to opponents this year. That’s 224th in the nation. Smith should have plenty of chances to set up his teammates in what should be a high-scoring game. Lock the higher number on Smith’s assists in your Underdog Fantasy college basketball entry.

Malik Thomas Higher Than 3.5 Rebounds

The San Francisco Dons welcome the St. Louis Billikens to War Memorial Gym tonight. The Billikens have Robbie Avila back in the lineup, but they’ve struggled on the boards against opponents.

St. Louis has allowed opponents to grab 36.5 rebounds per game. That’s 236th in the nation, but they’ve also been without Avila for most of the year.

San Francisco guard Malik Thomas enters this one averaging 3.1 rebounds per game, but he’s cleared 3.5 boards in four out of eight games this year. He wasn’t quite as aggressive during the Sunshine Slam, but he should be in a better spot in his home gym. The Billikens allowed guards Wichita State, Santa Clara, and UMass-Lowell to clean up the glass. This is a great spot for Thomas to fill up the stat sheet.
