College Basketball Picks November 19
Purdue at Marquette Higher Than 152.5 Total Points
This is definitely the matchup of the night as the sixth-ranked Boilermakers travel to Fiserv Forum to take on the 15th-ranked Golden Eagles. I love the over in this game. The total seems to be way too low for a clash against two elite offenses.
According to KenPom, Purdue has the third-best offensive rating. Trey Kaufman-Renn, Fletcher Loyer, and Braden Smith are all averaging over 15.0 points per game. Kaufman-Renn and Loyer have been red-hot from the field and from three. Loyer is still shooting a staggering 70% from behind the arc! Purdue has also struggled defensively this season.
Marquette, on the other hand, is a bit better defensively and a bit worse offensively. They are, though, still an elite offensive squad. Kam Jones is leading the way for the Golden Eagles, averaging 24.0 points per game and 5.0 assists per game. He has improved each year of his college career, and it seems like he is still getting better.
There are teams averaging 85.3 and 83.0 points per game, respectively. I think we fly over the total in this one.
UConn -38.5 vs. East Texas A&M
For the last two seasons, the Huskies have been an absolute machine of a program, and it seems like nothing has changed in 2024. UConn is 3-0 and 3-0 against the spread this season. They are led by returners Alex Karaban and Solo Ball, with major contributions from freshman Liam McNeeley.
Last season, UConn went 20-11 ATS in the regular season and followed that up by covering every spread in the NCAA Tournament. They were also 13-4 in non-conference games ATS. The point being, you always ride with the Huskies. Don’t overthink about the large point spread here.
