New Orleans Saints vs. Los Angeles Chargers Preview and Predictions

A non-conference meeting takes place in Los Angeles as the New Orleans Saints head to the West Coast to take on the Chargers. The Chargers are coming off a Monday Night Football loss against the Cardinals. Meanwhile, the Saints come into this game off a mini-bye as they faced the Broncos in a crushing loss on Thursday Night Football in Week 7. Below are my Saints at Chargers Preview and Predictions.

The good news for the Saints will be getting key players back on the offensive side of the football. Chris Olave cleared concussion protocol and will be in the lineup. Additionally, Taysom Hill is trending towards playing in this game. The Saints have a huge rest advantage as well in this game. As I mentioned the Saints played on Thursday Night Football in Week 7 while the Chargers played on Monday Night Football.

This is a big advantage spot for the New Orleans Saints. However, the concern I do have is the head coaching mismatch in this game between Dennis Allen and Jim Harbaugh. The Chargers are also dealing with injuries to the wide receiving group. Quentin Johnson is doubtful and Hayden Hurst, Will Dissley, and Ladd McConkey are questionable. Something to keep an eye out for as we approach Sunday.

Best Bets

The rest advantage to hard to ignore this game. As we get to the halfway point of the season this advantage can be a big edge for a team. Also, do I have enough faith in the Chargers to produce enough offense to create the separation to cover the spread? I don’t think so. As I mentioned above, the Chargers are dealing with too many injuries on the offensive side.

As much as there is a huge coaching mismatch and a rookie starting on the road here, I do believe the return of Olave and Hill will give the Saints a huge boost on offense. This spread is too high for a Chargers team that is on short rest and very limited on offense.

Best Bet: Saints +7.5

Player Prop Best Bet

Spencer Rattler Over 27.5 Rushing Yards

The key in this game for the New Orleans Saints will be to stay ahead of the chains. How can Rattler and the Saints offense do that? Take the opportunities to scramble for positive yardage. In the two starts that Rattler has made for the Saints, he has rushed for a total of 61 yards. In his last start, Rattler rushed for 34 yards on five attempts. With the possible return of Joey Bosa that will only boost the pass rush for the defense and put pressure on Rattler to scramble.
