Lock Selection: Bills

We have been successfully fading the Titans with my survivor picks, and we’ll continue to do so here. Do I think the Bills are an elite team? To be honest, no, I do not. But they are a good team, and in the AFC, there doesn’t appear to be many elite squads. In this one, the Bills are nine-point favorites at home.

Buffalo is coming off a nice win against the Jets. Although their offense stalled out in the second half, their defense made some opportune plays to seal the deal. Also, Josh Allen made some insane plays with his legs, carrying the weight with a lack of playmakers in the lineup.

Obviously,  I would monitor the status of James Cook, who missed Monday’s game with a toe injury. Also, they just acquired Amari Cooper, who could make an instant impact on the outside.

The Titans are BAD bad, and seem to be trending even worse. Will Levis is a disaster, and his receivers seem to be turning against him. I think the Bills roll easily in this one.

Contrarian Selection: Colts

The Colts are the second-best team in the NFL against the spread at 5-1. Their quarterback situation is a bit of a cause for concern, though. Yes, I am an Anthony Richardson believer. I think he has the potential to be an elite QB, but I can’t lie; I feel much more comfortable with Joe Flacco on the field with this pick.

Signs point to Richardson starting in this one, but Miami is simply one of the worst teams in the league as currently constructed. Their quarterback play is beyond poor, and their defense has somehow become softer than last season.

Michael Pittman looked great last week, and his impact was apparent. Hopefully, Jonathan Taylor will play in this one, and I’ll feel even better about it. To stay alive in the playoff picture, this is a game the Colts need to win.
