MLB NRFI and YRFI Picks – May 29

Chicago Cubs vs. Milwaukee BRewers

First Pitch – 7:40 pm EST
American Family Field – Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Broadcast – MLB TV

We’re not really pushing the envelope by saying that we like Shota Imanaga to get us one half of the NRFI done for us. He’s rocking a 0.84 ERA and a 0.91 WHIP on the year. He has 58 strikeouts in just 53.2 innings pitched. It really wouldn’t matter to me if the Brewers had the best lineup in the majors, I’d still like Imanaga to get us out of the first.

On the other side, we have another pitcher who has been putting up stellar numbers. Bryse Wilson’s ERA is just 2.86 and he hasn’t allowed more than two earned runs in a start all year. He’ll have the added benefit of facing a sub-par Cubs offense. They rank just 19th in runs scored on the year and have only scored 10 runs over their last three games (going into Tuesday’s action).

NRFI/YRFI Bet for May 29: No (-140)

Kansas City Royals vs. Minnesota Twins

First Pitch – 7:40 pm EST
Target Field – Minneapolis, Minnesota
Broadcast – MLB TV

This NRFI may seem a little tough in the top of the inning. The Royals are a top 10 team in runs scored and first inning runs. However, I have some faith in Bailey Ober here. He’s held his opponents to two or less earned runs in seven of the last nine games. In fact, the only reason he has a 4.33 ERA is that when he gets tagged, he does so in glorious fashion. I think he should avoid one of those outing here.

In the bottom of the inning, we can feel much better about the situation. Seth Lugo leads the American League with a 1.74 ERA. The Royals’ righty has been solid in just about every start. That includes his head-to-head matchup with the Twins in which he delivered 6.0 innings of scoreless baseball. Minnesota has also been one of the five worst teams at scoring at home, which should help things for Lugo and our NRFI here.

NRFI/YRFI Bet for May 29: No (-140)
