College Basketball Picks January 12th
Purdue Fort Wayne (-3.5) at Robert Morris (O/U 154.5)
Purdue Fort Wayne outweighs Robert Morris in nearly every metric, but they are only laying 3.5 in this matchup. The line is telling us to take the points with the ugly five-win team, but The Mastodons are the way to go.
They are a contender to take the Horizon League crown and cannot afford to drop one to a bottom-of-the-barrel team in the league. We are getting them at a low in this one as they just lost two straight games to Wright State and Youngstown State.
I do not fault them for that, as those are two of the better teams in the league. Great bounce-back spot for the Dons on the road.
The Pick: Purdue Fort Wayne -3.5
Nebraska at Iowa (-4.5) (O/U 165.5)
Nebraska is coming off one of their biggest wins in school history. Taking down AP Number One Purdue at home. Once again, it proves how much of an advantage home court is in high-level college hoops.
Iowa is a boom-or-bust team, but we get them in a great spot. They struggle with a physical team down low, and although Rienk Mast has proven to be one of the better bigs in the league, Nebraska does not have much else down there. The Cornhuskers can get hot from deep, but that is the game that Iowa wants to play.
They will be able to match that and come out on top. More than anything, this is a letdown spot for Nebraska off the big win against Purdue.
The Pick: Iowa -4.5
