Bowl season rolls on into its second week of action. This means that we only have 36 more games to build higher / lower Underdog Fantasy College Football Pick’em entries. Next up, the 2023 Frisco Bowl at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, TX. This year’s match-up features the Marshall Thundering Herd taking on the UTSA Roadrunners. The game kicks at 9 PM ET and can be found on ESPN.
Underdog Fantasy College Football Frisco Bowl Higher/Lower Plays
We’ve got four picks for the Frisco Bowl that you may want to work into your Underdog Fantasy College Football Pick’em entry. This game may end up being a bit run-heavy, and the predictions reflect that game script.
Frisco Bowl: UTSA vs. Marshall
Frank Harris Higher 28.5 rushing yards
UTSA Roadrunners quarterback Frank Harris has cleared 29 rushing yards in three of his last four starts. Harris appeared to cut back on tucking and running after he suffered a turf toe injury early in the year that seemed to linger.
The Marshall Thundering Herd have the 86th ranked rush defense in the country and have allowed 160.1 rushing yards per game this year.
Harris should find plenty of room to get loose, and his toe issues seem to be in the rearview mirror. Look for Harris to go over in his rushing yards total in your Underdog Fantasy College Football Pick’em entry.
Frisco Bowl: UTSA vs. Marshall
Kevorian Barnes Higher 64.5 rushing yards
If you’re taking the higher rushing yards total for Harris, the rushing yards total for UTSA running back Kevorian Barnes should also make it into your Underdog Fantasy entry.
Barnes has cleared 65 rushing yards in each of his last two games. He averaged 69.8 yards per game, and the Marshall Thundering Herd isn’t known for a stout run defense.
Barnes will get his share of the workload and shouldn’t have any issue going higher than 64.5 rushing yards in the Frisco Bowl. Add his rushing yards total to your Underdog Fantasy College Football Pick’em entry.
Frisco Bowl: UTSA vs. Marshall
Frank Harris Lower 237.5 passing yards
Harris has thrown for fewer than 237 passing yards in three of his last four games and six out of 10 starts this year.
The Marshall Thundering Herd doesn’t get roasted through the air. Marshall has the 50th-ranked pass defense in the country and only allows 220.4 yards per game.
Teams have only thrown the ball 49.2% of the time against Marshall. That’s good for 90th in the country. They can also get after the quarterback a little and may flush Harris out of the pocket on occasion.
If UTSA finds success on the ground, they may not need to throw much and could simply ground and pound their way to victory. This game is unlikely to be a shootout, and the Roadrunners probably won’t have to lean on Harris’ arm to win this.
Go lower on his passing yards total in your Underdog Fantasy College Football Pick’em entry.
Frisco Bowl: UTSA vs. Marshall
Rasheen Ali Higher 80.5 rushing yards
Marshall comes into this game without starting quarterback Cam Fancher and a few of their top pass catchers. This means that true freshman Cole Pennington will start. Pennington has thrown six interceptions and zero touchdowns in 79 attempts this year. He’s going to spend most of the game handing off to Marshall’s star running back, Rasheen Ali.
The only way Marshall stays in this game is by running the ball, draining the clock, and keeping the UTSA offense off the field. Look for Ali to get force-fed, and he should clear 80.5 yards easily.
Make sure you have the higher number on his rushing yards total in your Underdog Fantasy College Football Pick’em entry.
