Ryder Cup DFS! The definition of strategy and optimization. The goal of this is to have as many golfers playing in five matches as possible. The more opportunity your golfers have, the more points you can score. We will take a look at some golfers by price range and who will give the highest potential to play in the maximum amount of matches and win them!
Ryder Cup Best DFS Plays By Range
Like showdown slates in other sports, we are given a captain’s spot in our lineups. This is not regular for golf slates but is done in the Ryder Cup to differentiate lineups with only 24 golfers playing.
The captain spot will accrue 1.5x the points than the rest of the spots but also be more expensive, so it is important to nail in this spot with a golfer who will be playing five matchups and scoring well. Ryder Cup DFS is one of my favorites because of the correlation and strategy required. Let’s dive into some of the best plays!
Captain:Viktor Hovland $13,200
We will jump down to the 5th lowest captain selection with Viktor Hovland. He will be a popular grab at this price point, and rightfully so. Viktor will almost certainly be playing five matches and is playing the best golf of anyone in this Ryder Cup, with wins at the BMW Championship and the TOUR Championship. He will also give you some more lineup freedom down below.
$9,000+: Rory McIlroy $9,600
One, Rory in the 9K range is a gift, and two, he will surely play five matches. Rory was sat for a match in the last Ryder Cup and was outwardly upset. He made it clear that will not be the case in this Ryder Cup, and he will make amends for his performance at Whistling Straits. Rory has played “okay” in his recent European tour run, but nothing special.
I say that with a grain of salt because none of these Team Euro players have exactly played amazingly in the few DP World Tour Events they have played the last few weeks.

Mid Range: Justin Thomas $6,800
Justin Thomas is going to be an absolute bull this Ryder Cup. I expect him to play a minimum of four matches and tack on to his amazing Ryder Cup record. He and Jordan have Mahomes-Kelce esk chemistry, and that is what they will need to lead the team to victory. JT is a hammer at 6.8k.
Spieth happens.

Sub 6K Range: Wyndham Clark $5,800
The 2023 US Open Champion is a golfer I rarely play in DFS, but his consistency is hard to ignore. He has been on an absolute heater this entire year, and I expect that to continue on a golf course that requires really solid driving prowess. Also, it seems that he will be playing his matches with Brooks Koepka, who is one of the highest priced golfers on the slate, and will make a great duo.
Save the salary, and play Wyndham rather than Brooks.
Sam Burns $5,200
We all know it. Sam Burns will be paired with Scottie Scheffler and has a great chance to play five matches. At 5.2k, Burns can get extremely chalky, but he gives you extreme lineup freedom to get different elsewhere. Get your Scottie fix through a significantly cheaper Sam Burns.
