The Marlins and the Cubs gave us an easy hit on an early NRFI play on Thursday. Now we’ll look to Friday to build even more momentum prior to the weekend. We have some NRFI bets for September 25.

MLB NRFI and YRFI Picks – September 25
Atlanta Braves vs. Miami Marlins
First Pitch – 7:10 pm EST
loanDepot park – Miami, FL
Broadcast – MLB TV
The Braves enter Friday’s game struggling a bit at the plate. Over their last five games – heading into Thursday – they had scored just 19 total runs (3.80 per game). What’s even worse is just seven of those runs came in the last three games (2.33 per game). Those numbers are plenty indicative of their woes at the plate since the trade deadline, and those woes are unlikely to depart with Eury Perez on the bump. He’s rocking a 4.14 ERA and has big strikeout stuff. He’s putting up 9.72 strikeouts per nine innings and with the Braves likely to rest Ronald Acuna Jr, he should cruise through the first.
In the bottom of the first, we get one of the worst teams in the majors when it comes to scoring in the first inning. The Marlins are 27th in the majors in first inning scoring. They’re only ahead of the Red Sox, the Padres and the Blue Jays. To add to that, they are a below average offense across the entirety of the game. That should be music to the ears of Grant Holmes as well as NRFI bettors. Holmes enters action on Friday with a 1.89 ERA in the month of September, which should do the trick here.

Los Angeles Angels vs. Seattle Mariners
First Pitch – 10:10 pm EST
T-Mobile Park – Seattle, WA
Broadcast – MLB TV
The Angels continue to be one of the worst offenses this year. They’re flirting with a sub-4.00 run per game mark, currently sitting at 4.02. That is good enough for 29th in the majors and is only better than the Blue Jays. Now they’ll have to deal with Bryce Miller. While he isn’t having the season that he dreamed of, he is still sporting a sub-4.00 ERA and has struck out about a batter per inning. He’s fresh off an outing in Coors Field with no earned runs, which is a good sign for this one.
Closing out the NRFI is another team that just can’t seem to find their offensive footing. Seattle ranks just one spot better than the Angels this season – 28th overall in run scoring. That’s compounded by the fact that they’ve only scored 16 runs over their last five games. Reid Detmers should be able to make that worse on them. He has put up a 3.00 ERA in the month of September with 11.25 strikeouts per nine innings.
