The Mariners and Blue Jays gave us an afternoon NRFI cash to keep our momentum rolling this weekend. We’ll look to add a bit more fuel to that fire on Sunday. We have some NRFI bets for August 30.
Sunday’s action begins at noon and carries through the night. We dug through it all to find the very best spots. Come check out what we have cooked up for this slate of games.

MLB NRFI and YRFI Picks – August 30
Boston Red Sox vs. New York Yankees
First Pitch – 1:35 pm EST
Yankee Stadium – Bronx, NY
Broadcast – ESPN
We got burnt on the front end of the Boston-New York double header on Saturday with a two-out Wilyer Abreu homer. After that, we saw four scoreless innings and the Yankees stayed off the board for the entire thing. The second game of the double header wasn’t exactly lighting the scoreboard up either.
Now we’ll look to capitalize on those dead bats – first with Ranger Suarez on the bump. He’s held two of his last three opponents to just one run and dropped his ERA down to 3.35 in the process. When he faced the Yankees in June, he threw 6.1 innings with just one run allowed, which came in the 5th inning. There’s no reason to believe he can’t get us three quick outs in this one.
The bottom of the inning shouldn’t be much of a sweat either. Will Warren is getting the ball and he’s trimmed down his ERA lately as well. In addition, apart from a couple of dingers, he’s kept offenses in check over his last two starts. We’ll bank on the Red Sox staying cold and getting an NRFI out of this one.
NRFI/YRFI Bet for August 30: No (TBD)
Seattle Mariners vs. Toronto Blue Jays
First Pitch – 3:07 pm EST
Rogers Centre – Toronto, ON
Broadcast – MLB TV
Although we didn’t cash on the AL Easy rivalry on Saturday, we did in this series North of the border. And now we’re doubling down on this one too. The primary reason is that these are the two worst teams in the league when it comes to run scoring. Not only are they bad across the entire game, but both are pretty terrible in the first inning as well. The Mariners rank in the bottom third of the league in that metric and the Blue Jays continue to be dead last.
But it’s not just a fade of the bats, I genuinely like this pitching matchup as well. Sure, the season statistics on Max Scherzer don’t look great, but he’s actually settled in a bit lately. He’s held opponents to two or less runs in five of his last six starts and the vast majority of that damage has come from walks.
The Mariners will send out Logan Gilbert, who is rocking a 3.36 ERA on the year with 162 strikeouts. He was even better this month, where his ERA was down at 3.03 and he fanned 29 batters in five starts. Add in that his start against the Blue Jays last month saw him throw 7.1 innings with just one hit and this looks like it should be an easy one.
NRFI/YRFI Bet for August 30: No (TBD)
Bonus Pick: Royals/Guardians NRFI (TBD)
