The Seattle Mariners are a sinking ship (pun intended). After dropping the first two games of their series against the New York Yankees in The Bronx (by a combined score of 14-6), the Mariners have now dropped six straight games and seven of their last eight. They haven’t just sprung a leak – they’re sinking.
But this has been a long process of sinking for the M’s, as heading into action on Wednesday night they had gone 3-7, 6-14, and 10-20 over their last 10, 20, and 30 games, respectively. What’s worse is they are absolutely rotten playing outside of the Pacific Northwest, as their 23-36 road mark is the fifth-worst in the majors.
So I’m not really going out on a limb predicting that the Yankees will complete the series sweep in front of their home fans on Thursday afternoon. With Max Fried on the bump for the home side (one earned run allowed and 14 strikeouts over his last 11.2 innings), the New York Yankees on the moneyline is my best bet for Thursday.
