Daily World Cup Best Bets – July 11th

England vs. Norway

Kickoff – 5:00 pm EST
Hard Rock Stadium – Miami Gardens, Florida
Broadcast – FOX

If you’ve disliked the decrease in offense as the tournament has advanced towards its final stages, then you’re in luck with this one. Both of these teams have been putting the ball in the net more than their fair share. Norway has 12 goals in just five games (2.4 per game) and England isn’t far behind with 11 (2.2 per game). Both teams also prioritize the offensive attack, leading to occasional weakness at the back. This makes for a high scoring game in this quarterfinal matchup.

When it comes to which team has the edge, I side with Norway’s attack. While Jude Bellingham and Harry Kane have been forces at the front for England, there is something undeniable about the play from Erling Haaland lately. Additionally, both Andreas Schjelderup and
Martin Ødegaard have been excellent at setting things up through the middle. I think Norway has been just a bit too strong in those regards and should be able to outscore England here.

Best Bets for England/Norway:  Norway ML (+280) and Over 2.5 Goals (-150)

Argentina vs. Switzerland

Kickoff – 9:00 pm EST
Arrowhead Stadium – Kansas City, Missouri
Broadcast – FOX

Argentina keeps finding a way to win – granted not by much. In games they were supposed to blow out against Egypt and Cape Verde, they survived with exceptionally late goals. While it’s impressive that they can push forward and find that last one when they need it, they are going to be facing an even better defense with Switzerland.

Switzerland hasn’t allowed a goal in either of their last two games, and have only allowed three total in five games. Although I do think that has something to do with the level of competition, they should be able to mostly keep Argentina in check. I favor Argentina to advance, but I do think that Switzerland can keep it close to cash on the spread.

Best Bets for Argentina/Switzerland:  Switzerland +1.5 (-250) and Under 2.5 Goals (-120)
