Daily World Cup Best Bets – June 16th

France vs. Senegal

Kickoff – 3:00 pm EST
MetLife Stadium – East Rutherford, New Jersey
Broadcast – FOX

France enters Tuesday’s action not only as the favorite in this game, but to win the whole tournament. Disappointing results from the likes of Spain and the Netherlands certainly has helped the matter as well. There is really no reason not to like this team’s makeup. They have exceptional talent up from and have been racking up big tallies in friendlies. Not only can Kylian Mbappe and crew put them away, but Mike Maignan has been money in the net for both club and country.

With all that being said, Senegal has been tough on defense. Their run through the African Cup of Nations saw them concede just one goal in the knockout stage (4 games). While the won the finals, it was later taken back after a dispute over a protest. Still, the on-field action speaks for itself – including a 1-0 win over Morrocco, who just drew with Brazil. That defense should keep France honest here.

Best Bets for France/Senegal: Senegal +1.5 (-160) and Under 2.5 Goals (+105)

Iraq vs. Norway

Kickoff – 6:00 pm EST
Gillette Stadium – Foxborough, Massachusetts
Broadcast – FOX

Norway is sort of a sleeper team in this World Cup. Because they took until the 12th hour to qualify for the tournament, they aren’t really being considered as a major threat to make a deep run. However, that late qualification came at the hands of a 4-1 win over a tough Italian squad. With Erling Haaland up front and Martin Odegaard creating, they are going to be dangerous when it comes to putting up numbers.

Iraq’s run through AFC qualification was a lot of parking the bus and not much else. Their last six games of that tournament saw them score just five goals and conceded just four. That was against some sub-par competition with the likes of Indonesia and the United Arab Emirates. Norway should be a rude awakening for them.

Best Bets for Iraq/Norway: Norway -1.5 (-160) and Over 2.5 Goals (-165)

Argentina vs. Algeria

Kickoff – 9:00 pm EST
Arrowhead Stadium – Kansas City, Missouri
Broadcast – FS1

If France isn’t the team to beat in this tournament, then it might just be Argentina. Messi is back with the reigning champs with a repeat on their mind. They played through their final friendlies with that mentality. They went a perfect 7-0 in tune-ups, outscoring opponents 21-1 in the process. Even in qualification – against a bit better competition – they ran Brazil out of town with a 4-1 win. The offense appears poised for a big run here and I’m not sure there’s anything Algeria can do about it.

Algeria had a nice run through the Africa Cup of Nations, but did give up goals to Equatorial Guinea and Zimbabwe. That doesn’t bode well for this one.

Best Bets for Argentina/Algeria: Argentina -2.5 (+330) and Over 2.5 Goals (-110)
