A rainout shortened our NRFI chances on Sunday, but we’re right back at it again to start the new week. We have some NRFI bets for June 15.
Monday means we have a travel day and a few less games, but that doesn’t mean that we couldn’t put together some winners. Come check out what we have cooked up for this slate of games.

MLB NRFI and YRFI Picks – June 15
Colorado Rockies vs. Chicago Cubs
First Pitch – 8:05 pm EST
Wrigley Field – Chicago, IL
Broadcast – MLB TV
Some might see the 23 runs that the Rockies scored on Sunday and shy away from an NRFI play on them. However, we’re going right into the belly of that beast. Of course, it’s worth mentioning that they were playing in Las Vegas where they appear to use a super ball instead of an actual baseball. Now that they are playing somewhere resembling the environment of Earth, I expect their run scoring to return to expectations. Those expectations are still middle of the pack despite having some of the best run scoring environments available (home and away). Add in that Shota Imanaga threw against them last week and held them scoreless through 5.0 innings in Coors Field, and this should be an easy top of the first.
Again, the statistics for this one might be a little scary. Michael Lorenzen sporting a 7.54 ERA is anything but inspiring for this type of play. However, the bulk of his damage comes late in starts. May 12th was the last time he gave up a first inning run, which gives him five straight starts without one. The Cubs rank 28th in first inning scoring, which should help him to extend that streak to six.
NRFI/YRFI Bet for June 15: No (-115)
Pittsburgh Pirates vs. Athletics
First Pitch – 9:40 pm EST
Sutter Health Park – Sacramento, CA
Broadcast – MLB TV
JT Ginn is first to the bump in this Monday game, and he’s been sharp over the past month. In his last seven starts, he’s been able to hold opponents to two or less runs in six of them. That’s helped him lower his ERA down to 3.15. While Pittsburgh has been a good offense this year, they are on a bit of a skid. They scored just two runs on Sunday and have put up just eight over their last three games. Ginn should keep them quiet through the first frame.
To close out the NRFI, we have Jared Jones looking to stop the Athletics. Some of the Athletics numbers have looked scary, but a lot of that is due to the aforementioned Las Vegas environment. Despite all of that, they are still 15th in the league in run scoring. Back in the less friendly confines of Sutter Health Park, we should be safe. I’m also putting my trust in Jared Jones – who has looked great in his last two outings. He’s compiled 9.0 innings and only allowed two runs in that span – and that was against the Dodgers and the Astros. I like his chances of getting three quick outs here, especially at plus-money.
NRFI/YRFI Bet for June 15: No (+120)
