#1 South Carolina Gamecocks vs #1 UConn Huskies
Start Time: 7:00 PM EST
Cinderellas need not apply in this year’s women’s March Madness, as all four #1 seeds have run the table to get to the Final Four in Phoenix (Final Four in Phoenix – say that three times fast). That includes the two powerhouse programs in this game, as the #1 South Carolina Gamecocks face the #1 UConn Huskies.
The Gamecocks and the Huskies have won four of the past 10 national championships, including the last two, with UConn besting South Carolina in last year’s title game. The Huskies have been even better this season, going 38-0 to get to this point. While the Gamecocks are ‘only’ 35-3, the advanced stats rank only the Huskies better than them.
And while I am predicting UConn to make it back to the championship game again this season, I think we’ll have a close game on our hands tomorrow night. How close, you ask? After number crunching, my line is UConn -2.5, which makes the Gamecocks plus the points my best bet for Friday.
