The UFC heads back to their home inside of the Apex for UFC Vegas 115. It’s headlined by Chris Duncan as he looks to charge up the lightweight rankings at the expense of Renato Moicano. Prelim Pick of the Week: UFC Vegas 115
UFC Lightweight Fight: Lando Vannata vs Darrius Flowers
Start Time: Saturday (4/4) 5:00pm EST (Paramount+)
Lando Vannata is staring down the barrell of five straight years without a win inside the cage. Some of that is not so bad when you consider three years without a fight of any kind. Regardless, the last few have been less than ideal for “Groovy”. Still, he finds himself as nearly a 3-to-1 favorite on this Saturday’s card – and to be frank, I do not think that’s high enough.
Some of that is due to the fact that Vannata had a difficult strength of schedule and continued to look legit through it all. However, some is because I’m fading his opponent – Darrius Flowers. Flowers entered the UFC off of Dana White’s Contender Series. A freak injury to Amiran Gogoladze opened the door for his contract, and not much has been lucky for him since. We’ve seen a pair of fight cancellations and an 0-3 record over the last three and a half years. None of those fights saw him even resemble looking competitive.
With Flowers also looking at a two year layoff, he shouldn’t even be the sharper fighter here. Look for Vannata to be quicker and better just about everywhere.
