#2 Purdue Boilermakers vs #1 Arizona Wildcats
Start Time: 9:45 PM EST
While #9 and #3 seeds snuck through to the Elite Eight in the South Region of the bracket, the West Region has gone chalk. Which means the two best teams, the #2 Purdue Boilermakers of the Big Ten and the #1 ranked Arizona Wildcats of the Big 12, will butt heads in California tomorrow night for a ticket to the Final Four.
I’ve been going with offensive powerhouses over defensive ones in this year’s tournament to great effect, and there is no team better on offense than the Boilermakers, earning KenPom’s top offensive rating in the nation. While the Wildcats are a better all-around team, strong on offense and defense, I’m still going with Purdue. But not to win.
That’s because after crunching the numbers, my line for this matchup is Arizona -4.5, so while I predict that the Wildcats will win, I’m also making the Boilermakers on the spread my best bet for Saturday.
