The 2026 Winter Olympics (aka the XXV Winter Olympic Games, aka Milano Cortina 2026) have officially begun, and I’ve already lost my first two bets! At least I’m consistent. I’m going to change things up tomorrow and not make a bet on a Czech woman, like I did the first two days. For my Winter Olympics best bet for Sunday, February 8th: Women’s Downhill Final, we’re off to the Tofane Alpine Skiing Centre in Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy. Let’s get this money!
Winter Olympics Best Bet For Sunday (February 8th): Women’s Downhill Skiing Predictions
Alpine Skiing Women’s Downhill Finals
Start Time: 5:30 AM EST
The premier event on Sunday’s Winter Olympic schedule would have to be the Alpine Skiing Women’s Downhill Finals, and that’s due to one person: Team USA’s Lindsay Vonn. The five-time Olympian and gold medalist in 2010 returned to the sport in 2025 after retiring after the 2019 season. Now 41, the odds were already stacked against her – then she completely tore her ACL in a training run a week and a half ago.
Yet, Vonn plans to compete still, and after successful training runs recently, she is back as the odds-on favorite to win gold tomorrow. I can’t bet on her at the favorite odds due to her age and her knee. So I’ll go with her chief rival, Italy’s Olympic cauldron lighter Sofia Goggia, who was expected to compete with Vonn for gold this year before the American blew out her knee.
