The Czechia women’s hockey team did me dirty on Friday, losing to Switzerland in a game they were heavily favored to win. So what am I doing for Saturday? I’m doubling down on Czech women Olympians.
The women’s speed skating 3,000m finals is one of a handful of medal events tomorrow, and I’ve got a live dog in it for our best bet. Three-time Olympic gold medalist speed skater Martina Sáblíková of the Czech Republic is +400 to medal in the event this year. Sure, she’s 38 years old now, but she doesn’t need to win – just find the podium for us, and we’ll cash four times our money (along with her three gold medals, she also has two silvers and two bronzes).
And if the bet doesn’t hit, we can blame my editor, Adam Peletier (host of our Olympics podcast), for giving me bad intel. Win-win for us!
