While the UFC continues to be the king when it comes to MMA and gambling, there is more MMA than ever to bet on now. MMA Regional Pick of the Week: LFA 226
LFA Lightweight Fight: Dedrek Sanders vs Nikolay Kiosse
Card Start Time: Friday (2/6), 7:30pm EST (VICE TV)
In Friday’s co-main event, we have not only a clash of styles, but a clash in resume. On one hand, we have a Russian fighter with a nicer looking record, but who comes in unproven against high level competition. On the other side, we have an American fighter with a high level of compeition, but who has faltered from time to time.
For this one, I’m going with the Russian. In the clips of him that I have watched, he is much quicker on the feet. His hooks are tight and he is much better at putting together combinations. If this fight were to take place entirely on the feet, he should hold the advantage there.
There are times when Kiosse has struggled a bit in the wrestling. He gets in on shots, but sometimes struggles to finish them. However, he is presistent when it comes to trying to get the takedown. That should play against Sanders due to his cardio. While Sanders can hang a bit in the takedown – particularly with his defense – he does tend to tire when he does too much.
As a result, I like Kiosse pretty much wherever this fight goes.
