I’m going to have to utter the most dreaded words in the sport of MMA – the UFC Apex. Yes, the UFC is back in its home gym this week for a Fight Night Card. However, in terms of the Apex slop that we’re accustomed to being served, this one is of a higher quality. For my MMA Underdog Pick of the Week: UFC Vegas 113, I’m going with the dog in the main event. Let’s get it on, c’mon!

UFC Fight Night: Bautista vs Oliveira (aka UFC Vegas 113)
Start Time: 5:00 PM EST (Paramount+)
We get bantamweights in our main event this week, with top contenders Mario Bautista and Vinicius Oliveira locking horns. And I’m not just taking ‘Lok Dog’ Oliveira as my lock dog of the week because of his apt nickname.
I generally prefer to go with the fighter who has the most finishing ability in a matchup, and Oliveira has finished 18 of his 23 professional opponents. He’s a better and more dangerous striker than Bautista, and is at least the American’s equal on the mat. ‘Lok Dog’ is just what his nickname says this week.
