Tuesday is set for a full slate of three College Football Bowl Games. The Independence Bowl, the Music City Bowl, and the Alamo Bowl will give us an exciting day of football that includes some Big Ten teams and an SEC team in action. Let’s jump in, take a look, and make our College Football Bowl game best bets for Tuesday, December 30th.
The Radiance Technologies Independence Bowl at Independence Stadium in Shreveport, Louisiana, will get the day started with a 2:00 ET kickoff on ESPN. The Coastal Carolina Chanticleers will take on the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs. It’s still unclear if the Chanticleers quarterback, Samari Collier, will play in this game due to injury. The team fired head coach Tim Beck.
The Liberty Mutual Music City Bowl from Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tennessee, is up next. Kickoff between the Tennessee Volunteers and Illinois Fighting Illini is set for 5:30 ET on ESPN. Each team has a handful of opt-outs, but Illinois quarterback Luke Altmyer has been confirmed to be playing in this one.
The nightcap takes us out to the Alamodome in beautiful San Antonio, Texas. With kickoff set for 9:00 ET also on, ESPN, the USC Trojans will square off against the TCU Horned Frogs. Trojan quarterback Jayden Maiava has decided to return to the team and should play in this game. He’ll be without his star wide receiver duo of Lane and Lemon, who have both declared for the NFL Draft. TCU quarterback Josh Hoover has entered the portal.
College Football Bowl Best Bets: Tuesday, December 30th
Tennessee -2.5 (-112)
This is essentially a home game for the Tennessee Volunteers, playing about three hours from Knoxville and giving their fans an excuse to make a trip to Nashville. That, and amid both teams missing a few players, the quarterback difference does the rest for me. Joey Aguilar plus the crowd should be the difference in a game that’s a close matchup.
USC -6.5 (-110)
In the final game of the evening, it’s a similar handicap for the quarterback spot here. With Jayden Maiava recommitting to the school and program, it’s a good sign that he should show up and be ready to start building for next year. TCU has an experienced backup in Ken Seals, but this goes the way of the Trojans.
