Underdog Fantasy – DFS Picks for July 2
Gunnar Henderson – Higher than 1.5 Hits + runs + RBI
Gunnar Henderson has managed to beat this projection in both of the first two games of this series. He’s also been higher than that in three of his last five. However, it’s not just his recent streak that has me in on this pick on Wednesday. Nathan Eovaldi is on the bump, which is usually a deterrent for hitters. Not for Henderson – who has faced him eight times and has seven hits. That’s a .875 batting average with a 1.000 sligging percentage.
Hunter Brown – Higher than 6.5 Strikeouts
It’s been our running play to take pitchers to strike out the Rockies. While that let us down yesterday, we’re doubling down in this one. Some of that is because I still expect the Rockies to keep fanning. Some of it is because I really like Hunter Brown. He’s been over this mark in three of his last four starts. He’s averaged 8.5 strikeouts per game in that span and they’ve been against far better teams than Colorado.
Brice Turang – Higher than 0.5 Hits
This one seems like a slam dunk for any Underdog Fantasy entry. Turang is currenly riding a 13-game hitting streak. It’s not just that he’s put up a couple weeks worth of hits, but in that stretch he’s actually accumulated 22 hits. That gives him a .415 batting average in that window. He might have a slightly harder go of it being that Clay Holmes is on the bump for the Mets. We’ll take the lefty-righty matchup here though and get Turang back on the board.
