We’ve got some American League Central Division action going down in Missouri on Friday, with the fourth place Kansas City Royals hosting the top team in the division, the Detroit Tigers. Not only are the Tigers the top team in the AL Central, but their 37-20 record is tops in the majors.
The advanced stats also like the Tigers, having them 1.4 runs better than the average team in baseball, behind only the New York Yankees (1.8) and the Chicago Cubs (1.6). Speaking of average teams, the Royals are exactly that, 0.0 runs better/worse than the average team.
Even adding in the Royals’ slight home field advantage, the Tigers are expected to win by over a run tomorrow night. Plus, Kansas City will be starting Seth Lugo straight off the injured list, while Detroit will be sending Casey Mize (6-1, 2.45) to the bump.
