Urijah Faber’s A1 Combat Welterweight Fight: Shimon Smotritsky vs Mirali Huseynov
Card Start Time: Friday (5/2), 10:00pm EST (UFC Fight Pass)
This fight for the A1 Combat welterweight title seems a lot more simple than the line we see. Sure, Smotritsky is a UFC veteran and a two-time Dana White Contender Series veteran. However, he’s 0-3 in those fights and showed some serious issues with his chin and defensive grappling.
Bad news for him in this fight is that he’s fighting someone who will test that chin and who has some solid wrestling as well. Huseynov showed in his prior title fight, that he’s not afriad of mixing it up in the clinch. On top of that, he’s shown big power thanks to those hooks of his.
The big show experience isn’t as important if they’re all loses. I think we see Smotritsky stuggle with the level of competition in this one too.
