While the UFC continues to be the king when it comes to MMA and gambling, there is more MMA than ever to bet on now. Promotions all over the world as well as domestic ones are showing up in sportsbooks. The advantage here is that the data is usually quite a bit less sharp than when you’re making MMA predictions for the UFC. So we’ve decided to dig into some each week to get you started on your regional MMA journey. This week we stay stateside for PFL First Round 2 from Orlando, FL for our regional MMA pick.

MMA Regional Pick of the Week: PFL First Round 2
PFL Flyweight Fight: Jena Bishop vs Kana Watanabe
Card Start Time: Friday (4/11), 8:30pm EST (CBS Sports)
One of my favorite plays outside of the UFC this week is from the opening round of the PFL flyweight tournament. We’ll see a pair of grapplers in Jena Bichop and Kana Watanabe square off and I feel like the grappling will be a touch one-sided.
I believe the style of the grappling that Bishop brings is much more likely to give Watanabe fits. She has a strong wrestling game with low risk top control. Meanwhile, on the other side, Watanabe likes to use her judo and is often willing to take a risk to try to secure a position.
While that strategy has worked for her in the past, I feel like Bishop is the wrong opponent to do that against. If you make a mistake on the mats against her, she makes you pay for it. I expect her to do just that here.
