NASCAR heads west this weekend to Avondale, Arizona, and the Phoenix Raceway. They’ll take on the 1-mile dogleg oval that also hosts the NASCAR Championship race to end the season and crown the champion in November. Let’s jump in and look at this week’s NASCAR picks for the Shriners Children’s 500 at Phoenix Raceway odds and best bets.
Christopher Bell, the winner of the last two Cup Series races, is a strong favorite after winning last spring’s Phoenix race. Joey Logano wrapped up his third championship by winning the last race run here in November. Katherine Legge will make her first career start this weekend in the LIV Fast #78 car. She’ll be the first woman to start a Cup Series race in nine seasons, Danica Patrick being the most recent.
Christopher Bell all but locked himself into the playoffs with last week’s win at COTA. All he has to do is start the rest of the regular season races, and his spot is secured. William Byron leads the point standings after three races, while five full-time drivers are behind Jimmie Johnson, who only started one race this year. It’s important not to overreact to just three races. Especially two superspeedways and a road course. Don’t count anyone out!

NASCAR Picks: Shriners Children’s 500 at Phoenix Raceway Odds and Best Bets
Ryan Blaney Top 5 (-110)
This one is pretty simple for me. There have been six races in this Generation 7 NASCAR Cup Series. Blaney has finished inside of the top five in all six of those races. Four of the six, he’s finished in second place. When it comes to Phoenix, Team Penske, especially Ryan Blaney, has the place figured out. He’s batting 1.000 so far, so let’s keep riding it.
Chris Buescher Top 10 +140
Buescher is quickly becoming a weekly guy to go to for me when it comes to betting. Last week on the NASCAR Gambling Podcast, we rode the Chris Buescher car lift and cashed a few legs on him at COTA for a great paying day.
Buescher is a driver you can count on week after week to be in competition for a top 10 and even more. No matter the track type, he shows up. He’s finished in the top 10 in the last three Phoenix races and has been in the top 15 in five of the six NextGen races here. Buescher at plus money for a top 10 is always worth a bet!
Chris Buescher Over Brad Keselowski (-110)
Speaking of Buescher. The Prosper, Texas native is matchup up here against his teammate and car owner Brad Keselowski. It’s a bit puzzling why the two of them are matched up for this weekend. Just like with the Blaney stat, it’s been undefeated so far. Over the six NextGen races at Phoenix Raceway, Buescher is six for six at finishing better than his boss.
Kyle Larson to Win (+800)
Guys like Bell and Blaney are the first ones that come to mind when you think of a track like this, but in the 4/1, 5/1 range, it makes them hard to bet in a field this competitive. At 8/1, you are getting a steal on the most talented driver in the field that also has a great car.
Larson always finds himself in the mix when they come to this track. He’s finished in the top five in three of the last four races here and in nine of his last 16 starts. He led 201 laps in the 2023 spring race and 107 in his 2021 championship-winning race.
