Super Bowl LIX Underdog Fantasy Pick’em Selections

DeVonta Smith Longest Reception Higher Than 20.5 Yards

In 16 games played this season, including the playoffs, DeVonta Smith has had 11 games with a reception of 20 yards or longer. Obviously, a lot of the Chief’s defensive game plan will revolve around Saquon Barkley and AJ Brown. Not that a Steve Spagnoulo-led defense would ever forget about Smith, but there will be bigger issues at hand.

Smith came up huge in Super Bowl LVII, catching 7 passes for 100 yards, including a 45-yard catch down the sideline. If the Eagles want to win this one, they’ll have to find some explosive plays from their offense. Whether it’s Smith, Barkley, Brown, or all three remains to be seen. It is important to note Smith has been dealing with a hamstring injury and was limited in practice on Thursday.

DeAndre Hopkins Higher Than 12.5 Receiving Yards

Hopkins has been virtually invisible thus far in the 2025 NFL playoffs. 3 target and 11 receiving yards in two playoff games is not exactly a confidence booster for the Super Bowl. The bottom line is Kansas City has a plethora of average to below-average receivers who rotate in and out of the game.

My thinking is, against this Vic Fangio “bend, don’t break” zone defense, Hopkins is the perfect receiver to sit within zones and get open whenever he can. If there’s one aspect of Hopkins’ game that is still elite, it would be his route running. He certainly won’t run past you, but if you need a guy to keep open in a big spot, I’m taking D-Hop to make that happen.

All we need is 12.5 yards here, so really, it’s not too much to ask. At least, I hope.

AJ Brown Lower Than 7.5 Targets

Brown has only exceeded this number one time in Philly’s playoff games this season. I think Brown is as elite as they come, but this game is all about Saquon Barkley. Kellen Moore has shown that he doesn’t mind avoiding the pass altogether. When Hurts is relentlessly pushing the ball down the field, it goes badly for the Eagles.

Also, don’t discount Spag’s ability to take away a valuable weapon in the Eagles’ offense. Trent McDuffie will be harassing Brown all game with safety help over the top.
