Super Bowl 59 Gatorade Bets

Super Bowl 59 Gatorade Bets

It’s the most wonderful time of the year for degens – Christmas and New Year’s and your birthday all rolled into one. Super Bowl LIX (aka Super Bowl 59) goes down this Sunday evening from the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana, and it’s a rematch of Super Bowl LVII. That game was a barnburner, with the Kansas City Chiefs eking out a 38-35 win over the Philadelphia Eagles. And how did the players stay hydrated in that game? By drinking Gatorade, naturally. And speaking of Gatorade, here is your Super Bowl 59 Gatorade bets preview.

Super Bowl 59 Gatorade Bets

No, the Gatorade isn’t just used to keep the athletes on the field hydrated and cramp-free. No, these crazy athletes like to waste large quantities of it by giving their winning coaches and/or teammates showers in it after their big wins. And no win is bigger than winning the Super Bowl.

The first Gatorade shower is credited to New York Giants nose tackle Jim Burt, who doused coach Bill Parcells with a cooler of it after a game in 1984. It has since become a tradition across all sports, much to Gatorade’s glee – nothing better than free advertising. Now it’s commonplace to see a Gatorade shower (or bath or dunk – all terms are acceptable) at sporting events.

Naturally, since it’s entrenched as part of the Super Bowl tradition, and the Super Bowl is all about gambling, you can bet on the Gatorade bath/shower/dunk/etc. The most common and popular form of Gatorade betting (what a ridiculous term) would be which color of the liquid will be poured on the winning coach after the big game.

As of these words being typed, here are your color odds:

Purple +150
Yellow/Green/Lime +225
Orange +400
Blue +700
Red/Pink +700
Clear/Water +900

The money has been pouring (pun) in on Purple, with the number being steamed up from +250 to its current place at +150, moving Purple into the lead (originally Red/Pink was the favorite at +250). The reason for that is that was the color of choice for the past two Super Bowls, which were notably won by the Kansas City Chiefs who are once again competing in the Super Bowl on Sunday. Considering the Chiefs are -120 on the moneyline to beat the Philadelphia Eagles this weekend, you may be better off betting Purple than the Chiefs ML if you expect them to complete their three-peat. Or be a true degen and parlay the Chiefs and Purple together for a big payday, if your book of choice allows.

If you think Eagles’ coach Nick Sirianni will get the Sunday shower instead of the Chiefs’ Andy Reid, then Yellow/Green/Lime at +225 might be your best path to riches. That appears to be Philly’s color of choice, as Sirianni had a Yellow/Green/Lime (let’s just call it neon) bath after this year’s NFC Championship Game as well as the last time the Eagles won to advance to the Super Bowl back in 2023.

Historically, Orange is the way to go, being used five times in Super Bowl shower history, followed by Purple, Clear, None, and Blue all tied with four. I’ve done the research, bro.

If you want to bet something other than the color of the Gatorade, you can wager on which position the player who does the dumping plays.

Defense/Special Teams -120
Offense +115
Both Offense and Defense/Special Teams +400

Have fun on Sunday and stay hydrated!
