College Basketball Picks January 13
Rutgers +3.5 vs. UCLA
Full disclosure: I’ve gotten burned by the Scarlet Knights quite a few times this season, but there is no denying their talent. They easily could have two of the first five guys selected next summer in the 2025 NBA Draft. They just have not been able to put all the pieces together.
Today, they are facing a UCLA squad that has recently struggled, losing three consecutive games and failing to cover the spread by 10+ over the last two. Mick Cronin gave a scathing review of his basketball team the other day, which raised eyebrows amongst the basketball community.
Mick Cronin went OFF on his players following their loss to Michigan 😳
“We’re soft… Every day, I have more passion and energy in practice than anybody else. I’m tired of it. It’s a joke… The truth of it is, it’s really hard to coach guys who are delusional” pic.twitter.com/abGQdPkfQN

Safe to say vibes aren’t the highest at UCLA.
UCLA’s defense has been solid, but their offense has been putrid, especially recently. Yes, Rutgers has struggled on both sides of the ball, even at home, but if they want any chance of playing in March, they need to play well tonight. At this point, it’s make-or-break.
I’m rolling with the Knights to put together a solid performance here.
