We’re in the midst of what amounts to an offseason in the MMA world, with the UFC dark for almost a month over the holiday season (although other regional promotions are still up and running, filling the void a bit). With the action in the UFC cage done for 2024 (and not yet started in 2025), now is the time to look ahead and place our bets on who will be wearing UFC gold around their waists in their respective weight classes when December 31, 2025 rolls around. 2025 UFC Featherweight Champion Futures Best Bet
I’ve got another chalky play for the UFC’s 145-pound weight class, but champion Ilia Topuria is dominant, still getting better, and doesn’t turn 28 until later this month. There’s still plenty of runway ahead of him as an elite fighter.
There are no featherweight challengers that I see beating him at this point. If you want to make a pizza bet on Diego Lopes, I’m not against that, but I’d still choose Topuria to win that fight. And Topuria’s talk of moving up to lightweight could help this bet cash, assuming he wants to be a two-weight class champion and doesn’t relinquish his featherweight belt to move up.
