Kansas City Chiefs at Pittsburgh Steelers Preview and Predictions

Christmas football is here! The NFL has blessed us with two great games on Christmas Day. The first of which features the Kansas City Chiefs visiting Pittsburgh to take on the Steelers. Andy Reid vs Mike Tomlin. Patrick Mahomes vs Russell Wilson. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. ET on Wednesday, December 25th. Both games will stream live on Netflix. Let’s jump in and take a look at this Kansas City Chiefs at Pittsburgh Steelers preview and predictions.

The Kansas City Chiefs clinched the #1 seed in the AFC last weekend, ensuring the road to Super Bowl LIX will go through Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City. It wasn’t a pretty win over the Houston Texans when the team played last Saturday but Kansas City did what they always do and found a way to win yet another game. They are now 14-1 on the year with little to play for. That being said, this is the perfect game to prepare them for what they are going to see in the AFC playoffs.

The Steelers currently hold the lead in the AFC North and the #3 overall seed in the AFC. The Steelers are tied with the Ravens for the AFC North but currently hold the tiebreaker. They’ll need to keep their foot on the gas these last two weeks to be able to hold a top seed and host a playoff game in Pittsburgh. After starting the season 10-3, the Steelers have had a brutal schedule down the stretch that resulted in losses to both Philadelphia and Baltimore over the last two weeks. Great news for the Steelers this week: their star wide receiver, George Pickens, was listed as a full participant on Monday and will likely be back on the field Wednesday.

George Pickens Over 63.5 Receiving Yards (-113)

Hamstrings can be tricky injuries, but I’m going to buy the dip here and put my trust in the star receiver for the Steelers. Pickens has easily hit this number in five of his last six games. He and Russell Wilson really got on the same page after Wilson took over as the starter and they haven’t stopped.

Kansas City has had a tough defense but that hasn’t stopped good wide receivers from having strong days against them. Tank Dell had 98 yards before his injury last week and Nico Collins added another 60. Jerry Jeudy went off the week before for 108 yards, Josh Palmer had 78, Brock Bowers had 140 and Jakobi Meyers added 97 of his own in Week 13. All Pickens has to do is get to 64, and that shouldn’t be a tall task for him.

Pittsburgh Steelers +3 (-110)

We should be in for a really good game here on Christmas Day. Two of the best minds in the game, along with two quarterbacks playing great ball right now. Two defenses playing tough football. You can make a strong case either way especially with the number sitting at just three points.

For me, this game means more to the Steelers. They need this game for the division, they need this game for the seeding. Don’t get me wrong Kansas City will show up and it’s going to be a tough grueling game. But give me the Steelers to get back on the wagon with a cold Christmas win in Pittsburgh.
