College Basketball Picks December 12
Iowa State -5.5 at Iowa
While all initial thoughts about a rivalry game and a road team would cause you to take the points with Iowa, there are some trends that make me think Iowa State is the definite play in this one. First off, Iowa State is battle-tested. They took Auburn to the brink of defeat despite losing by two, beat a solid Dayton team, and took care of business against Marquette.
Iowa poses a significant threat, yet they haven’t played since December 7th. In games where Iowa has four or more days of rest, they are 0-3 against the spread. They also are 2-4 against the spread as the home team. I love Iowa State as a regular-season team. They have a defense that travels and have made strides offensively from last season.
