One of the recurring themes you’ll see in this column is ‘Fade USC’s Defense’, and that’s exactly what this play is. According to KenPom, the Trojans have the 125th rated defense in the country. The concern there is that they’re the 125th rated defense against buy-games and weird non-conference games.
The Trojans get St. Mary’s at a neutral site game in Riverside, CA. Expect The Trojans defense to look leaky. This means that St. Mary’s guard Augustas Marciulionis should get his.
Marciulionis is averaging 14.7 points per game, but he’s only gone higher than 13.5 points in two out of six games. One of those games was a 13-point performance in only 15 minutes played. The trend may not be on our side in this one, but USC struggles against guards who can slash and shoot.
