Bye Week: Falcons, Bills, Bengals, Saints, Jets, and Jaguars

Lock Selection: Chiefs

It definitely feels good to be holding the back-to-back reigning Super Bowl champs in our pocket for Survivor. I’ll be deploying them in this spot. KC is an 11-point favorite at home against the Panthers, who are coming off a bye. The Chiefs are coming off a tough loss on the road against the Bills, who were without Dalton Kincaid and Keon Coleman. Josh Allen was just too much for the typically stout KC defense.

The Chiefs should be getting some reinforcements as well. Isiah Pacheco and Charles Omenihu are both designated for return this week. Kareem Hunt has filled in quite nicely, but Pacheco brings more speed to an already potent offense. KC has struggled to get quarterbacks on the ground, so Omenihu should help with that.

Kansas City is 5-5 against the spread,  and they rarely cover these large spreads in the last three years. Carolina is trending upwards, and Bryce Young seems to be taking some steps forward. Plus, they are off a bye. Don’t be surprised if the Panthers cover the spread, but the Chiefs will win the game.

Contrarian Selection: Buccaneers

Two more teams coming off a bye, square off in New Jersey. The Bucs definitely are not as bad as their record indicates. Tampa has dealt with tons of injuries, but Mike Evans and Jamel Dean aim for a return in this one. They definitely are in striking distance of the division despite the tough start to the season.

On the other hand, the Giants are in a bit of disarray. They decided to not only bench starting quarterback Daniel Jones, but demote him to QB3/QB4, essentially ending his GMen tenure. It was reported that Giants owner John Mara gave Joe Schoen and Brian Daboll a vote of confidence to return next season. It was also reported that Brian Daboll is coaching for his job in these next seven games. I’m not sure what to believe, but there is no doubt this Giants team has been less than impressive this year.

Despite their record, the Giants still play hard for their coach, unlike some other weak teams in the NFL. This Bucs team is just too talented to drop a game to this New York squad.
