NBA First Scorer Props – November 21
Detroit Pistons vs. Charlotte Hornets
Tipoff – 7:00 pm EST
Spectrum Center – Charlotte, NC

The visitors have a clear advantage on the early game indicators in the early showdown tonight. Detroit is an above average team in all the things we look for. They are 9-of-16 on the tip and are even better getting first scores – they have 11-of-16 in that category. That should be enough to get them on the board first against these Hornets. The Hornets have won just 5-of-14 tips they’ve seen this year and have seen plenty of names rotate into that spot. Additionally, they are just league average when it comes to finishing them. With those factors both clearly giving us a leader, we’ll grab a pick from the Pistons.
He may not be the name getting the most looks, but I like Jaden Ivey here. There’s a couple of reasons as to why you should get down on him here. The first of those is that he has seen an uptick in his shot attempts over the last four games. Despite averaging just over 14 shots per game in the first half of this month, he’s putting up 15.5 per game in the last four games. Additionally, he finds his way into the early shot log fairly often. With some nice looking odds, it’s as good of a time as any to take a stab at him.

Minnesota Timberwolves vs. Toronto Raptors

We’ve got another nice lead for a visitor in this game tipping off just 30 minutes later. The Timberwolves are winning just half of the tips they are taking, but that still looks great next to the 40.0% we’re seeing from the Raptors. The lead is even better when it comes to the first scores. The Timberwolves are getting 64.3% of all of their first scores. Meanwehile, the Raptors are getting on the board first just 46.7% of the time. So, once again we’ll ride into town with one of the visitors for this one as well.
If you’re going to take someone on Minnesota right now, it sort of has to be Julius Randle. While he’s got the chalkiest of the odds, he has been the one getting the early looks for them the majority of the time. In fact, he took both of their first two shots in their last game. The game prior, he didn’t take the first shot, but he once again did take the second shot. The action lately clearly favors him and it’s worth laying a little chalk for the spot.
